Starting in 2002, Billy Merritt (of Ninja, Robot, Pirate fame) started writing what he called “Billy Merrit’s Improv Party.” It started as a story to share his thoughts on improv and turned into a full-blown thread of awesome improv tips.
I definitely recommend reading the entire thing…

With millions of blogs, and billions of internet sources, I suppose the first blog post for Improv Your Work should explain, at least in part, why this blog exists and who is its intended reader.
What is “Improv Your Work”?
“Improv Your Work” is a branch of the “Improv Your Life” philosophy…
I’ll definitely be following this blog. The PIT+Applied Improv= creativity explosion
Tonight The People’s Improv Theater is doing their version of Saturday Night Live at, you guessed it, 11:30 PM! It will run just like the show - cold open, celebrity host monologue, sketches, a musical guest, and, of course, your laughter throughout.
We’ve followed the same schedule as the SNL crew this week. I suspect that I’ll be using the last droplets of energy in my system to crawl from the subway to my apartment and, if I’m lucky, up the stairs, but I am also holding out hope for a second wind that will carry me through an insane after party befitting of the event!
Here’s the info!

Flashback Friday: January 24, 2011: Now THAT takes the cake! Nothing says “happy birthday” quite like a cake with a face on it. Happy belated birthday to the lovely Kristen Schaal! (Photo and cake by Marianne Ways)
Happy Birthday Kristen!!
Congratulations to Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo on their much-deserved WGA nomination for Bridesmaids!
On we march. Next stop, the Kodak.

#4. Red Flag PerfumeJust edging out Lil’ Poundcake for the title of my favourite commercial parody of the season is Red Flag. A spot-on parody of perfume commercials, Red Flag features a woman, delightfully played by Kristen Wiig, wearing a fragrance that warns every gentleman who smells her that she’s fucking crazy.
“She’s exquisite…but she also lived in Vegas for eleven years.”
Hilarious.
